Aston Villa, The Hardest Team We’ve Faced – Liverpool’s Hero

The newly promoted side were a few minutes away from recording a remarkable victory over the European champions, leading Liverpool forward Sadio Mane to tagged the Villains as the team to have presented the Reds with the stiffest challenge this season.

Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane were the heroes for Liverpool on Saturday afternoon after the league leaders crafted a miraculous late comeback victory at the Villa Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have already faced Arsenal, Manchester United, Leicester City and Tottenham this season but Sadio Mane is convinced that Aston Villa were the hardest team they have tackled so far in the league.

Speaking to the media after the match as observed by Soccernet.ng, Liverpool’s match-winner Sadio Mane said,

“Today was not our best performance but we deserved the three points.

“It was a perfect delivery from the corner and in the end I was even a bit lucky the ball went in.

“Aston Villa have been the team that pushed us harder so far, that’s why this is the best league in the world every single game can be like this one.”

Scotland captain, Andy Robertson, got the Reds back in the game after heading the equaliser past Tom Heaton following a perfect delivery from Sadio Mane. The fullback was also full of praise for his teammates’ battling qualities.

“We have showed our resilience over the last 18 months and this season we have kept on going,” Andy said.

“Today we knew we had some great chances and there’s nothing better than a last minute winner.

“Aston Villa are a team that just got promoted and pushed us to the end, we know we need to be at our best every single game.”
