The team conceded early goals in the last two games they played, but Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr insists he is not worried about Nigeria’s slow start as long as they win the game.
The three time African champions began their quest for a place in AFCON 2021 with victories over Benin and Lesotho in Group L.
However, it was far from an easy win in those two matches as they had to overcome a slow start to earn the maximum points from the two games. This has left a lot of people worried, but Rohr is not concerned as long as the team get the job done.
“Some matches we do score the first goal, and some matches we concede the first goals.”
“We scored all the time against Brazil, against Ukraine, against Tunisia, the three matches before, we scored the first goals and we did not win only against Tunisia, Rohr said after Super Eagles win over Lesotho.”
“So I prefer to concede the first goal and to win the match, and it also proven that my team has a good spirit.” They never give up, they don’t lose their calm, they try to play well, continue no panic, Rohr added.
Following the win over Lesotho, the Super Eagles lead their qualifying group with six points from two matches while Benin moved up to second position with three points from two matches. Lesotho and Sierra Leone occupy the last two positions with a point apiece.
