UEFA Champions League: Suarez’s Brace Earns Barcelona Valuable Victory Against Inter Milan

A Luis Suarez’s brace helped Barcelona survived an early scare as the Catalans defeated Inter Milan 2-1 in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League at Camp Nou.

The Nerazzurri wasted no time to announce their intent as Lautaro Martinez scored in the third minute with a cool finish.

Inter could have taken a shock two-goal lead in the eight-minute when Frankie de Jong’s pass was intercepted in the 18-yard box by Martinez but he failed to capitalize on it.

The La Liga Champions could hardly control the tempo of the game as their possession football and hard-pressing style of play failed to create any meaning goal scoring chances.

Also, a Lionel Messi’s long-range effort in the 25th minute ended up safely in the hands of Samir Handanovic.

At the resumption of the second half, Barcelona intensified pressure to level score and the team was eventually rewarded as Suarez’s volley leveled parity for the host in the 58th minute.

The Uruguayan forward scored his brace after receiving a pass from Messi to calmly extend Barcelona’s goal.

All efforts for Inter Milan to pick out a point proved abortive as Barcelona earned their first three points in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
