Super Eagles striker Dennis scores twice as Club Brugge stun Real Madrid at the Bernabeu

Emmanuel Dennis grabbed a brace for ten-man Club Brugge but it was not enough to claim a famous victory as Real Madrid rallied in the second half to force a 2-2 draw in match day 2 of the Champions League.

Super Eagles newest star Emmanuel Bonaventure scored twice at the Santiago Bernabeu to give less fancied Club Brugge a 2-0 lead at the break to leave the home team stunned and fans wild.

Dennis Emmanuel grabbed a brace in the first half of Club Brugge’s face-off with the Spanish giants to become only the third Nigerian ever to find the net against Los Blancos in the Champions League.

The youngster, who made his Super Eagles debut in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Ukraine last month, opened the scoring after just 9 minutes before completing his brace half an hour later.

Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis’ first goal needed VAR to overturn an incorrect offside decision against the Belgian outfit after the forward miscontrolled Percy Tau’s cross past Thibaut Courtois.

Dennis’ second came from a mistake from Luka Modric, he nearly lost his footing but managed to right himself before clipping a strike into the net.

Madrid had chances at the other end, but Simon Mignolet produced a super save to deny Raphael Varane, while Toni Kroos fired two attempts wide of the post.

Shortly after the break, Ramos pulled one back for the home side. Benzema lifted a cross to the back post for the defender to attack. He headed his effort down towards the right bottom corner to beat Mignolet. VAR had a check on the incident, but it ruled in Los Blancos’ favour.

That goal means Ramos has scored in a 10th different season in the Champions League, becoming just the second defender to do so in the competition after Gerard Pique.

Six minutes to the end the away side were reduced to ten men. Brugge skipper Vormer slide in late on Vinicius forcing the referee to send him on his way for a second bookable offence.

From the resultant free-kick, Los Merengues were back on levelled terms, thanks to Casemiro. Kroos put his delivery on the money and Casemiro rose ahead of Deli to guide his effort away from Mignolet into the right bottom corner.
