With barely an hour left to kick off in the match between Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and Hungary in the FIFA U17 World Championships, the President has sent the young lads his goodwill message.
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has charged the nation’s U-17 team to do the country proud in their opening match of the world cup.
Tweeting via his official Twitter handle, the President wrote:
“Tonight, the most successful team in the history of FIFA Under-17 World Cup will play its first game in the 2019 edition.
“I wish our Golden Eaglets the very best as they take on Hungary, and commence the quest for the Trophy. The entire country is solidly behind you.”

The Golden Eaglets are all set to square up against the Europeans in their first U17 Fifa World Cup clash of the 2019 edition.
Nigeria are five-time world champions at this level, but their opponents on Saturday night, rhe Magyars, return to the competition after a 34-year hiatus.
The Golden Eaglets are also back to the biennial football tournament after missing the event in India 2017.
Hungary’s only meeting with Nigeria ended in a 3-1 defeat in the quarter-final of the 1985 edition with Billa Imoh netting a brace.
