Super Eagles striker had earned plaudits far and wide for his match winning performances since joining Lille in the summer and on Wednesday night Chelsea felt a bit of the youngster’s magic, leaving the Blues boss impressed.
Frank Lampard has revealed that his team’s Champions League encounter with Lille would have been much easier if Osimhen was absent as he praised the unique attributes of the former Sporting Charleroi forward.
Victor Osimhen took just ten minutes to respond with a glancing header for the home side after Tammy Abraham had given the visitors the lead.
His goal was ultimately not enough though as Willian claimed all three points for the English side with a late volley.
However, Victor Osimhen had done enough to earn Frank Lampard’s admiration.
“Osimhen was very impressive, it was a very difficult match for our defenders. He is fast and strong. I wish him a great career,” Lampard was quoted as saying by Lille’s official Twitter account as monitored by Soccernet.ng.
