Rohr Reveals If He Will Be Inviting Fikayo Tomori To The Super Eagles Squad

The Chelsea defender was called up by Gareth Southgate to England team for the Euro 2020 qualifiers early this month but did not feature in any of the two games, and makes him still eligible for Nigeria.

In a recent interview, Tomori revealed that he had to choose England over Nigeria because they were the only country that showed interest in him.

But with him not making his debut yet, there have been rumours that Nigeria may try to persuade him to change his decision.

However, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has revealed there’s no point in trying to convince Tomori to reconsider his decision as that will send a bad message but wishes him success with England

”He picked where he is comfortable and we wish him the best with England. No point thinking we can have him back as it ll be dangerous if we allow players view Nigeria as 2nd option when all fails, I think we are bigger than that. I hope he succeeds, Rohr told OwngoalNigeria.

  • If true, I fully support Roar's decision about Tomori. He needs to float or sink with England. The Nigeria ship has sailed. Tomori had his chance and played games with it. Aina talked with him about joining Nigeria. Nigeria wanted Tomori, but Tomori did not want Nigeria. It's late now. Next man up!

    • let swallow our pride and still go for him, because the future will be bright if he play for Nigeria, some one can take wrong decision after all he is still a young man that need advice, is the duty of the scout, NFF n our coach to let him know the benefit of playing for Nigeria than England

  • Tomori is certainly a strong, skillful and pacing defender that would have enjoyed his international career with the Super Eagles, but he chose to pitch tent with England. The Super Eagles' team is not a dumping ground for rejected "stones". I wish Tomori well in the English team. His time to play for England would come soon.

  • The guy is correct. He's right. We don't need to beg anybody to come and play for national teams. Nigeria is bigger than any individual or group of players. All the best to whoever chose to play for another country other than his or her parents of birth. Abraham, Fikayo and host of others.

  • I bet anyone that Nigeria parade a glut of skillful players than Tomori that are not yet discovered. If Tomori snub Nigeria look beyond him for others waiting and begging to be invited. At this point, I will no advise Rohr to extend a second invitation to him as his second bluff will have a damaging impact on our ego and pride.

  • please Rohr,we know he have offend us,but forgive him, you are a father to your players so i urge you pardon, i beg you, but your decision stand if you say no

  • I would love it if he is playing for eagles but he snubbed us right from time cost I could remember that Aina told us that he said that he did not want to talk about national issue now until next year April.he should fight with many England full back and let me c when they will play him.his is still better than Abraham cos he can still speak out that he now want to join another national team.

  • Please let Nigeria football team,
Forgive him he still a small boy and bad advice, it's just a lesson to him and orders players that is coming up, just like case of Ibrahim Tammy now he has seen his lesson England football team beach him every time, he is going to fall soon since he rejected the country where he perents come from, we will see what happens let
