Goalkeeper
Paulo Gazzaniga (Tottenham Hotspur) – A series of outstanding saves did not bring Spurs a point at Anfield, but they enhanced the Argentine’s reputation.
Defenders
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) – Marauding. A dominant force on the right flank against Tottenham, surging forward and providing a host of fine crosses.
Fikayo Tomori (Chelsea) – Made an outstanding challenge to halt Jay Rodriguez in another promising performance as Chelsea powered to victory at Burnley.
Dan Burn (Brighton) – A centre-back Graham Potter likes to use on the left, he excelled at both ends of the pitch in the dramatic win over Everton.
Ben Chilwell (Leicester City) – Started the top flight’s record away win with a well-taken opener at Southampton. A threat going forward throughout.
Midfielders
Ayoze Perez (Leicester City) – Had not scored for Leicester since his £30 million move from Newcastle. Then he got a hat-trick in the 9-0 thrashing of Southampton.
Fabinho (Liverpool) – Helped Liverpool overpower Tottenham in the centre of the pitch and set up Jordan Henderson’s equaliser with a lovely chipped pass.
Scott McTominay (Manchester United) – A rare bright spot for United this season, he made another important contribution with the opener in a long-awaited away win at Norwich.
Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) – What a way to open his account. Pulisic scored a perfect hat-trick – left foot, right foot, header – in an outstanding display at Burnley.
Strikers
Jamie Vardy (Leicester) – Showed his clinical streak again with a treble to complete the 9-0 thrashing of Southampton and become the division’s top scorer.
Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) – The lone City player to earn Pep Guardiola’s praise for his first-half display, Sterling scored in the second period against Aston Villa.
