Paul Onuachu Named In Racing Genk’s Squad To Face European Champions Liverpool

The Nigerian international has been included in the Racing Genk’s 21-man squad set to battle European champions Liverpool on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League match day three.

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu is in line to make his full debut in the Champions League group stages when Genk play host to Liverpool in Belgium on Wednesday.

Onuachu was an 85th minute substitute in Genk’s 6-2 loss on match day one while the 25-year-old was an unused sub when the Jupiler Lig side battled to a goalless draw with Napoli in match day two.

Genk’s coach Felice Mazzu has however included Onuachu’s name in the list released of players he intend to prosecute the Liverpool game with.

The full list:

Vandevoordt, Coucke, Leysen, De Norre, Dewaest, Uronen, Maehle, Lucumi, Cuesta, Wouters, Heynen, Hrosovsky, Hagi, Berge, Ito, Nygren, Bongonda, Samatta, Odey, Onuachu and Ndongala.

Meanwhile, the Genk boss has revealed that his team remain undaunted despite facing the ultimate challenge of hosting the reigning European champions.

“When a team like Liverpool take 25 points from 27 and they play like they play I think they are one of the best teams in Europe, probably the best,” he said.

“[Jurgen] Klopp makes Liverpool dangerous. We know they score easily with three, four or five strikers with a lot of speed.

“They have a lot of players with maturity, they have a high press and like to play at one end of the pitch. We must be attentive.”

“When Salah is missing. On the pitch the movements of the strikers is a little bit different. I don’t know if Salah will be there tomorrow.”

“The Manchester United system played with a five-man defence. It was a good thing for them. We have a lot of options so we will see tomorrow,” he added.
