The Leicester City midfielder has pointed out the error in Brazil’s decision to single out Alex Iwobi as the Super Eagles most dangerous player by highlighting the source of the dangers the Selecao will face when the two sides meet on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the week, Brazil’s assistant coach Cleber Xavier picked out Everton forward Alex Iwobi as the player the Samba Boys must tame if the South Americans desire victory in their friendly match up.
Xavier, in describing forward Alex Iwobi, referred to him as “the link in the counter attack, who drags opponents out of position and infiltrates well in the box”.
However, Wilfred Ndidi has responded to those claims by revealing that there is more to the Super Eagles team than just Iwobi while admitting his admiration for the five-time world champions.
“Brazil are a good team and it is not going to be easy. But this is why we are here, we want to see where we are at,” Ndidi told the Straits Times has monitored by Soccernet.ng.
“The game will serve as a test for our young team trying to get experience for these types of games in tournaments.
“Brazil don’t have to worry about only Alex, they have to worry about our whole team.
“We are young, mobile, and we can play good football. Everything comes with time, we are trying our best and we are getting there.”
Centre-back Troost-Ekong has been the stand-in captain since midfielder Mikel Obi retired and Ahmed Musa got sidelined by injury. The Udinese defender will likely lead the Super Eagles out against the Selecao on Sunday and he is also convinced that the former African champions possess the weaponry to hurt the reigning Copa America champions.
“Brazil are one of the best teams in the world and we have to respect them,” said Troost-Ekong.
“But if we are at our best, we can make things difficult for them. We shouldn’t fear them or be afraid. We have young players who want to prove ourselves.”
