League Cup: Super Eagles Stars On Fire In France, England

The League Cup took centre stage in France and England on Tuesday night, and some Super Eagles stars were on target for their respective clubs.

In England, forgotten Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho was handed a rare start by Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers in the Carabao Cup encounter against Burton Albion.

The 22-year-old has only featured once for the Foxes this season, and that was a substitute appearance in the 4-0 win over Luton Town in the Carabao Cup third-round tie.

The Nigeria international came on to score the last goal on that night and it appears he has a love affair with the competition after scoring the first goal in the 3-1 win over Burton last night.

Iheanacho has not featured for the Foxes in the Premier League this season but he will be hoping his goal last night will convince Rodgers to give him a chance in the Foxes squad.

While Iheanacho is struggling for game time at the King Power Stadium, Wilfred Nididi is enjoying a regular run of games. The midfield enforcer is one of the key men in Rodgers line up and was introduced in the 88th minute of the encounter last night.

Meanwhile, in France, Josh Maja scored in Bordeaux 2-0 victory over Dijon in the French League Cup on Tuesday night. The 20-year-old who made his Super Eagles debut in the 2-2 draw against Ukraine, put Les Girondins ahead in the eighth minute via an assist from another Super Eagles star, Samuel Kalu.

It was Maja’s second goal of the season having scored once in nine Ligue 1 matches for Bordeaux this term.
