Gernot Rohr reveals why rising Arsenal star Bukayo Saka may not play for Super Eagles

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has confessed that fans may never see Bukayo Saka play for Nigeria’s national team despite the youngster’s willingness to play for his fatherland.

At just 18 years of age, Saka has already made ten appearances for the Gunners, scoring his first goal in a 3-0 Europa League win over Eintracht Frankfurt last week.

Bukayo Saka added more points to his burgeoning ratings by providing the assist from which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the equalizer that earned Arsenal a credible draw on Monday night at the Old Trafford.

However, at a time when Nigerians are coming to terms with losing the Chelsea duo of Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori to the Three Lions, there are now fears that Bukayo Saka may also be lost to the football wilderness due to paper work.

Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has now, according to reports, confirmed those fears.

“On Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, it is not easy to invite players who has played already for England or other countries in the U-17, U-18 and U-20 categories,” Rohr said.

“It is very tedious and requires long processes to do so. I could remember that it took us one year before Ola Aina’s issue was resolved before he was cleared by FIFA and was eligible to play for us (Super Eagles),” the German tactician added.
