Following the Super Falcons failure to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games, Nigeria’s Dream Team VII, Taiwo Awoniy says he’s optimistic the team will do everything possible to qualify for Tokyo.
Awoniyi, who is on loan with Maiz in Germany from Premier League side, Liverpool, said the the U-23 Eagles will do everything possible to ensure Nigeria is represented in Tokyo.
In an interview with Brila FM that was monitored by Soccernet.ng, Awoniyi said that the team will approach the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt with a strong winning mentality.
“I think there is so much quality in this team (Olympic Eagles) and I think we can go far with the kind of players that we have in the team.”
“The coach (Imama Amakapabo) is working so well because even when we come together even for some days, everyone can see the difference in the team.”
“I think the coaches are doing a great job in the team and I believe everything is possible in football. I believe the team will do well by God’s grace at the U-23 AFCON in Egypt.”
Recall that Awoniyi was on target in Nigeria’s 5-0 win against Sudan in the second leg of the qualifier at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Delta State.
