Ex international, Henry Nwosu believes Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo has the potential to fill the void left behind by Mikel Obi in the senior national team.
Aribo netted the goal for Nigeria in the team’s 1-1 draw against the Samba Boys of Brazil in Sunday’s international friendly game in Singapore.
Recall that the Glasgow Rangers star was also on the score sheet in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Ukraine in last month”s friendly tie at the Dnipro Arena.
In a chat with Soccernet.ng, the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations player, stated that Aribo’s confidence and determination would pilot him to a higher level.
He also revealed that his performance against Brazil could have cemented a permanent shirt in the Super Eagles and has what it takes to replace Mikel in the midfield.
“The performance of the Super Eagles against Brazil was superb and I am impressed with the way the players approached the game,” Nwosu told Soccernet.ng.
“One player that caught my attention was Joe Aribo because he’s just playing in his second game for the Super Eagles and displayed some high level of football.
“The goal he scored was also genius based on his quick movement with the ball before beating Brazil goalkeeper, Ederson. If he continues this way, I simply believe he has what it takes to replace Mikel Obi in the heart of the Super Eagles midfield.”
