Racing Genk’s manager Felice Mazzu has been criticized for not fully unleashing the ‘weapon’, Paul Onuachu, on his substitute bench, preferring to play inferior players who add nothing to the team.
Former Belgium international striker Wesley Sonck has expressed his dissatisfaction at seeing Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu condemned to the Genk bench while players who are not up to standard enjoy playing time.
Having only moved to Belgium’s Racing Genk in the summer from Danish side FC Midtjylland, Nigeria international Paul Onuachu is finding regular starting shirt hard to come by but the gangling striker has been tipped to become a permanent fixture in Racing Genk’s starting line-up in no distant time.
Sonck has tipped Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu to be a star performer for the Belgian side, even as he compared the 23-year-old to Czech legend Jan Koller.
Jan Koller is the Czech Republic’s highest goalscorer in history and Sonck sees similar traits in a player who has only made three starts from a possible ten across all competitions for Genk.
”I think he is an extra weapon. He sometimes reminds me of Jan Koller,” Sonck explained to Sporza via Voetbal Primeur.
”Onuachu is a constant threat in the eighteen. He is 2.02 meters and has good feet. With him you can give a ball faster from the flank and he is always in the right place.
”Maybe it’s an option to play with two strikers, because there are a few guys at Genk that I find absolutely substandard. Bongonda is unrecognizable and I also wonder what extra Hagi brings.”
Racing Genk are set to host European champions Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

From the few times i have seen the lad play, I'd say he is really a good player.
Benching him, is not good a thing.
