Newly invited Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has revealed he won’t have any problem during his initiation because he listens to a lot of Nigerian music.
It is a tradition in Super Eagles camp that newly invited players sing any Nigerian song of their choice during their initiation. But with Okoye born and nurtured in Germany, it may have been assumed that he will find it to difficult to sing any local song.
However, the Fortuna Dusseldorf II goalkeeper has revealed he won’t find it hard to sing Nigerian songs because he listens to them. The 20-year-old reveals he listens to the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Flavour and Kizz Daniel.
In a video interview with Omasports which was monitored by Soccernet.ng, Okoye revealed he has a whole playlist of Wizkid, Davido, Flavour and Kizz Daniel- although he admitted he may not know how to sing the songs properly.
“I have got a whole playlist of Wizkid, Davido, Kizz Daniel and Flavour, and I think I can sing every song even if I don’t understand everything.” So I am prepared for that, this will be no problem, Okoye said.
When pressed on which song he’s likely to sing at the initiation, the 20-yea-old said Pana by Tekno or Madu by Kizz Daniel. “I think Pana from Tekno or maybe something from Flavour or maybe Madu from Kizz Daniel, He’s got a new song. It’s my nickname.”
Okoye will hope to have a good debut when Nigeria take on Ukraine at the Dnipro Arena on Tuesday night.
