Why we celebrated Chelsea draw like a win – Sheffield United boss

The Blades launched an unlikely comeback from two goals down after the break at the Stamford Bridge, leaving their managed enthralled by an ‘historic’ performance.

Tammy Abraham’s first half brace appeared to have set Chelsea on the path to a comfortable victory but the Blues truly collapsed in the second half, allowing the visitors to snatch a point in the dying moments of the game.

At the blast of the final whistle, Sheffield United and their fans celebrated like they had won, ensuring that Blades boss Chris Wilder had some explaining to do afterwards.

“We have celebrated, we have come to a historic football club and gone toe-to-toe with them,” Chris Wilder told BBC Sport in a chat monitored by Soccernet.ng.

“After being 2-0 down a point is a great result for us. We had two bad mistakes for their goals but that shows you what the character in this team is like.

“Chelsea have world class players at the top of the pitch but our shape was good. We just wanted to play how we play in the second half.

“We have talked about games like this. In periods we haven’t believed in ourselves enough, but when we have shown confidence and a bit of a strut, we have shown that we are here to compete.”
