The German tactician led the Super Eagles to a third place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations and only a few days ago guided Nigeria to an impressive 2-2 draw in Ukraine but clips have surfaced of his complaints about the way the game is run in the country.
Gernot Rohr has revealed that the state of Nigeria’s pitches is one of the challenges hindering him from putting together a great Super Eagles team three years after he was hired to do so, Soccernet.ng reports.
“One of my biggest problems for the Super Eagles is that we don’t have a single quality pitch, in the whole of Nigeria, for my team to play matches on.
“This is not acceptable for a country of Nigeria’s level,” the former Bordeaux manager told Osasu Obayiuwana.
He however pleads with the new Sports Minister to come to the rescue.
“I am hoping that Sunday Dare, Nigeria’s new Sports Minister, will ensure that the main pitch and practice pitches of the Abuja National Stadium will be restored, as soon as possible. This will help my team a lot,” Gernot Rohr said.
Rohr added: “I also know that Lagos is the home of football in Nigeria and we should be able to play there as well. I hope the Minister can help us by ensuring that we have good pitches to practice and play on, in Lagos.
“You saw the quality of pitches that the Super Eagles played on, at the #AFCON2019 (the Cairo International Stadium is pictured below). This should be the standard for Nigeria. The pitches we currently play on, in Nigeria, are not good enough,” Rohr submitted.

Please I apeal to those who in charge to do something about this! What is stopping us not not have better pitch in Nigeria?
We possess some wonderful talented young footballers that can destroy any team in the world if property groomed. But how can we achieve that with all these horrible pitches? Mind you, that's one of the reasons why some foreign players are still declining our invite. Ejo ooo, please do something about it we beg you o.
With all the oil money in the country yet we are still crying....
Chai!!! What a country ,despite all money and talent we possess yet we cannot boost of one standerd pitch,

Although we proclaim ourselves as the giants of Africa, still having a world class stadium is a very huge problem
