Silva, Aubameyang, Kante And Ndidi Star In Premier League Team Of The Week

The sixth week of this season’s Premier League created more goals as Arsenal defeated Aston Villa in a five-goal thriller while Man City spanked Watford 8-0 to keep a close tab on a Liverpool side that beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Bernado Silva grabbed a hat-trick in City’s win, Aubameyang rescued the three points for Arsenal with his sublime free-kick while Burnley striker, Chris Wood also grabbed his first brace in the Premier League.

Soccernet.ng picks the standout players for the Premier League team Of The Week.

Goalkeeper

Dean Henderson (Sheffield United): Stood against every Everton’s attacks and was outstanding in preventing Richarlison from pulling a goal back after Sheffield United had netted their first goal.

Defenders

Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool): Solid at the back and prevented Kante and Tammy Abraham from making a great impact against Liverpool. No doubt, Liverpool are already reaping the rewards from the huge money spent on him.

Jonny Evans (Leicester City): Perhaps Evans would have been the ‘Mr Fix’ it for Manchester United defence if he was still in the team. However, at Leicester City, he has become a cult hero, as he marshalled the team defence against Tottenham. Standing firmly against Harry Kane even after the England international had put Spurs ahead in the early minute of the encounter.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool): Had a decent game against Chelsea and capped it with a sumptuous free-kick that went straight to the back of the net. Always a threat when attacking from the right flank.

Sead Kolasinac (Arsenal): Despite Arsenal’s early scare against Aston Villa, Kolasinac was one player that constantly leads the team’s attack and played a part in the team’s equalising goal.

Midfielders

N’Golo Kante (Chelsea): Showed no sign of a player just returning from injury as he marshalled Chelsea’s midfield with so much confidence and aggression. Capped his display with a solo goal that sent the crowd into frenzy mood.

Matteo Guendouzi (Arsenal): Played one of his best games for the Gunners as he defended and attacked brilliantly each time he’s with the ball. despite the team going a man down, he played a key part in Arsenal’s second goal.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City): Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela will hardly forget the name of the Nigerian international as he kept the duo at bay and also joined the team’s attack at some point. Key in the midfield and had a decent game that ensured the Foxes pick the maximum points against Tottenham.

Bernardo Silva (Man City): One of the star players in Man City’s 8-0 whitewash of Watford in Saturday’s Premier League. The Portuguese international netted three goals, his first in the colours of City and had a hand in every of the team’s goal against Watford.

Strikers

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal): Always delievers when needed. The Gaboneses forward scored the crucial goal that ensure Arsenal claim the vital three ppoints despite playing with 10-men. Aubameyang’s brilliant free-kick capped a perfect performance for him and Arsenal.

Chris Wood (Burnley): Will be relishing his two goals against Norwich as he proved to be a menace whenever he found himself in the 18-yard box.
