West Brom came from behind to claim a credible draw at the Craven Cottage with the Baggies cause helped greatly by Semi Ajayi’s second half equalizer.
The Nigerian defender, only days after returning from international duty with Nigeria in a 2-2 draw with Ukraine, nodded in his first goal for the Albion late on against Fulham. Ajayi’s fine headed goal ensured Slaven Bilić’s side extended their unbeaten run to seven games at the start of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.
Semi Ajayi joined Albion from Rotherham over the summer and has only taken seven games to score his first for his new club, a moment that left the Nigeria international speechless.
Semi said: “I’m absolutely delighted to score my first goal. It’s been a long time coming.
“To get it in front of the away fans near the end of the game was a great feeling, but more importantly it has kept our unbeaten run going.
“Any goal is a good goal for me, including the tap-in today.
“I’m just really happy to open my account for Albion.
“It was an amazing feeling to run towards the away end and I lost myself for about five seconds after scoring.
“But then I remembered that we could actually go on to win the game so I ran back up the other end and got back in shape as quickly as I could.
“I’m delighted that we are still unbeaten. We may not have been at our best today but we are showing that we can ride those waves and come back stronger.”
