See What Leon Balogun Said To Maduka Okoye On His First Training Session With The Super Eagles

Newly Super Eagles invitee Maduka Okoye is already feeling at home with his new teammates as Nigeria prepare to face Ukraine in an international friendly on Tuesday at the Dnipro Arena.

The Fortuna Düsseldorf II goalkeeper is among the many new faces that Rohr called up for the clash against Andriy Shevchenko’s side.

The German-born goalkeeper expressed his delight after taking part in his first session with the team. Okoye took to his twitter handle share his joy.

The 20-year-old posted a picture of himself, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi and Leon Balogun with the caption: First session with the Super Eagles. Thank God.

Balogun who was also born in Germany later welcomed him to the Super Eagles team. The Brighton defender quoted Okoye’s tweet, saying; Welcome to the Family bro.

Okoye whose inclusion in the squad has generated controversies will hope to convince Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, that he is the long term solution to Nigeria’s goalkeeping problems.

The game against the Ukrainians will be the Super Eagles first match since their third-place encounter against Tunisia at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The game will serve as a build-up to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which begins in November. Nigeria has been drawn against Sierra Leone, Lesotho and Benin Republic.
