Samuel Chukwueze, Dele Bashiru Nominated For Europe’s Big Award

Samuel Chukwueze’s brilliant performances have been recognized after he was included alongside Flying Eagles star, Tom Dele Bashiru in the 40-man shortlist for the 2019 Golden Boy award.

Chukwueze enjoyed a debut campaign last season with Villarreal, scoring five goals in 26 La Liga matches. His performances in the yellow submarine’s games against Barcelona and Real Madrid earned him rave reviews from all quarters.

His feat last season earned him a place in Super Eagles squad that finished third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He scored the winner in the quarter-final clash against South Africa and has also maintained his form for Villarreal this season.

Meanwhile, Tom Dele Bashiru was one of the few shining lights in Flying Eagles ill-fated U-20 world cup campaign in Poland. He joined Watford from Manchester City on a six-year deal last summer.

The Nigerian duo will be competing with the likes of Mathijs De Ligt who won the award last year, Borrusia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Arsenal’s Mateo Guendozi, Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix and many others.
