Rashford, James Shine In Man United Player Ratings

Man United are back to winning ways again after overcoming Leicester City 1-0 at Old Trafford in Saturday’s Premier League.

A Marcus Rashford’s penalty in the 8th was all that United needed to pick the maximum points.

Soccernet.ng rates the performance of the Manchester United players against the Foxes.

David de Gea 6.5 – Commanding display from the Spaniard. Collected loose balls well and made two top saves in the first half to keep the home side ahead.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6 – Did not look up to full speed but the execution of his defensive duties was once again watertight. A natural defender through and through.

Victor Lindelof 6 – Nearly let James Maddison score in the first half with some brainless positioning but recovered well, passing the ball nicely.

Harry Maguire 6 – Against his former club, the defender produced two moments of poor defending to scare the Old Trafford crowd, but his overall class shone through in the second period with some excellent last ditch challenges.

Ashley Young 5 – Started the game solidly, finding Daniel James with the pass of the game, but ended up falling off the pace.

Nemanja Matic 5 – Using the Serbian at the base of midfield against a packed Leicester midfield was never going to end well. Quite simply too slow with and without the ball.

Scott McTominay 6 – Probably United’s best outfield performer – certainly in the first half, during which he fought and scrapped for every loose ball against a more fluid Leicester side.

Juan Mata 5 – A couple of nice touches here and there but, ultimately, always seemed to be playing catch-up in what was a physical encounter.

Andreas Pereira 6 – Asked to play almost two roles at once – right-sided attacker and right-sided defensive midfielder when the ball was lost. His energy levels and technical quality at close quarters was impressive.

Daniel James 5.5 – Brought the crowd off its feet on a couple of occasions, firing one shot narrowly over the bar, but was not involved in the game enough for United to enact consistent pressure on the visitors from the left flank.

Marcus Rashford 6.5 – Much better from the Englishman. With no Paul Pogba, the striker was feeding off scraps but did well with what came to him, winning a penalty and then converting it, alongside drawing some useful fouls through his hold-up play. Also thudded the ball against the bar from a free-kick.

Substitutes

Fred 6 – Came on and added a touch of class to a midfield that was struggling. Deserves to be starting games.

Tahith Chong 5 – Brought a spark from the bench, driving forward with ferocity and nutmegging Ricardo Pereira on a couple of occasions.
