Ramon Azeez’s Goal Sends Barcelona Crashing

Forgotten Super Eagles Midfielder, Ramon Azeez netted a goal as Granada inflicted a shock 2-0 win over Barcelona in Saturday’s La Liga at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.

Azeez wasted no time as he put the host ahead with a sublime finish in the 2nd minute to send the vociferous home supporters in frenzy.

Barca, who last weekend crushed Valencia 5-2 before drawing Borussia Dortmund to a goalless draw in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League, failed to convert some of the goal-scoring chances that came their way as players such as Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi couldn’t capitalize on Granada’s panic defending.

The Catalans controlled possession for the most part of the game, leaving the host to defend massively once they are not with the ball.

Alvaro Vadillo later punished Barcelona for their profligacy in front of goal as he extended Granada’s lead in the 66th minute via a penalty.

All efforts for Barcelona to score proved abortive as Granada ensure they pick the maximum points. The defeat will be Barcelona’s second defeat in the Spanish League after losing 1-0 to Atletic Bilbao in the opener.
