Premier League Team Of The Week: Abraham, Aguero, Lacazette Shine As Azpilicueta, Rashford Flop

Last weekend’s Premier League produced another interesting result as Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea failed to pick up the maximum points.

Despite the poor results by some of the big teams, players such as Tammy Abraham grabbed a brace for the second game in a row for Chelsea,  Sergio Aguero maintained his goal scoring form for Man City while Alexandre Lacazette netted the goal that brought some life back to Arsenal after going down 2-0.

Soccernet picks players that made the Premier League of the Week.

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur) – The Frenchman put on a spectacular display at the Emirates, pulling off a host of fantastic saves to earn Spurs a share of the points against Arsenal.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) – Alexander-Arnold was denied his first goal of the season after officials detected that his cross took a wicked deflection off the back of Chris Wood before spiralling beyond Nick Pope in the Burnley goal.

Jannik Vestergaard (Southampton) – Vestergaard has had his critics since arriving on the south coast, but the Danish centre-back was superb against an admittedly out-of-sorts Manchester United attack and scored the vital goal that earned the team a draw.

Ben Chilwell (Leicester City) – Jamie Vardy will get all the plaudits for his two goals against Bournemouth but the rest of the Leicester side was equalling impressive. Chilwell was mostly influencial in setting up some of the crosses that led to Leicester City’s goal and was also solid defensively.

Midfielders

Richarlison (Everton) – Everton finally found their goalscoring form against a leggy Wolves side at Goodison Park on Sunday, with Richarlison bagging a brace in the 3-2 win.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – De Bruyne scored the opener against Brighton and set up the second for his fifth assist of the Premier League campaign so far.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) – Grealish was superb in defeat as Aston Villa were robbed of a point by a poor refereeing decision against Crystal Palace. The Villa captain led by example throughout and thought he had fashioned a late equaliser when his bursting run and pass found Henri Lansbury, only to be denied as offside. In all, Grealish had a near-perfect game that caused all sort of trouble for the Crystal Palace defenders.

Callum Robinson (Sheffield United) – Robinson missed a good chance to get on the scoresheet in the first half at Stamford Bridge but made amends with a brilliant display after the break.

Strikers

Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) – Another double for Abraham as the young striker settles in to life as Chelsea’s first-choice frontman.

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) –The 28-year-old was industrious in defence and showed sublime skill to get on the scoresheet and haul his side back into the north London derby, but was later substituted due to injury.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – Raheem Sterling has been stealing the limelight in the opening stages of the season but Aguero was on form with a trademark double against Brighton this weekend.
