Messi, Ronaldo Or Robben? Samuel Chukwueze Reveals His Idol

Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze has revealed the player he tries to model his game on. In the present day Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona wizard, Lionel Messi are the two players youngsters look to as role model.

However, for Chukwueze, that is not the case. The 20-year-old revealed former Bayern Munich star, Arjen Robben is the player who he watched while growing up.

Although he wants to be his own man, the Villarreal youngster revealed Robben was the perfect player for him and he watches his clips on youtube.

The Nigerian international is a left-footed player like Robben and also likes to cut onto his right which was Robben’s signature move. Speaking in an interview with Goal where Soccernet.ng was able to get excerpts from, the AFCON 2019 Bronze medalist, believes the former Dutch international is the king.

“He’s the king, to me,” says Chukwueze when asked about the great Dutchman. “He’s the perfect player. I watch so many YouTube clips of him, and there are so many things I can learn from watching him.

“On the way to games, even now, I will still stick on clips of Robben and watch his goals, his dribbling. He’s my inspiration, one of the greatest.

“I like to be me, and of course you have to be yourself, but you need to learn from people like him. What a player!”
