Manchester United, Arsenal Share The Spoils At Old Trafford

Manchester United failed to build on Scott McTominay’s goal as the team played out a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in Monday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils showed some elements of hunger and determination to win the game as the team took control of possession within the first few minutes but couldn’t convert their possession into goals.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka had the chance to give the Gunners a rare lead in the 15th minute but he was judged to be offside despite hitting a low drive shot that went off the goal post.

Andreas Pereira could have opened his goal account for Manchester United this season in the 29th minute when he found himself in a goal scoring position, but then, he headed the ball straight to Arsenal goalkeeper, Bernd Leno.

However, the deadlock was finally broken as Scott McTominay gave the home team the lead in the 45th minute with a sweet strike that had a slight deflection into the roof of the Arsenal net.

At the resumption of the second half, Arsenal made frantic effort to level the score but the United defence dealth brilliant with their attacks.

Again, Pereira could have extended Manchester United lead in the 57th minutes only for his shot to miss the target.

Arsenal were eventually rewarded for their pesistency and doggedness as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leveled parity for the visitor in the 58th minute. The goal was initially ruled offside by the asistant referee but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) allowed the goal to stand.

Leno made a vital save almost at the tale end of the encounter as he prevented Marvus Rashford’s free-kick from entering the net.

All efforts for both teams to score the winning goal proved abortive as Man United and Arsenal shared the spoil at Old Trafford.
