Former Super Eagles Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme Looking For An Igbo Teacher

Former Nigeria international Carl Ikeme has expressed his interest in learning the Igbo language, and he is looking for a teacher that can help him in his quest, Soccernet.ng can confirm.

The former Wolves goalkeeper revealed this on his twitter page when discussing with a fellow who plans to open Nigerian languages school for the country’s residents in England.

Ikeme is Nigerian but was born in England which was where he also grew up. But it appears the 33-year-old wants to connect with his Igbo roots by learning the language.

The former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper announced his retirement from the game in 2018 after he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia. Although he is now in full remission, he had to retire based on medical grounds.

He made 10 appearances for Nigeria and was in goal in the Super Eagles 2-1 victory over Zambia during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
