Ex international, Joe Erico has admonished the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr to give the newly invited players the chance to prove their worth in today’s international friendly game against Ukraine at the Dnipro Arena.
Rohr invited 23-man squad that included four new players as Joseph Aribo (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Emil Maduka Okoye (Fortuna Dusseldorf, Germany), Joshua Maja (Girondins Bordeaux, France), and Emmanuel Dennis (Club Brugge, Belgium) to camp for the first time.
The former Super Eagles assistant coach told Brila fm in an interview stated that the outcome of the result shouldn’t be the priority but the opportunity to see the new players display their worth for subsequent matches.
He also revealed that the technical crew should ensure they start some of the players in order to identify some of the grey areas they could rectify before the November clash against Squirrels of Benin in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
“It’s going to serve as an opportunity for them too to showcase their self. It doesn’t matter so much after all it’s just friendly. It’s an international friendly but must we win by all cost?
“That is typical of Nigerians they want to win by all cost. So I don’t see anything difficult in giving those players chance too.”
