Chelsea’s Frank Lampard pleased to draw sloppy Manchester United in the Carabao Cup

The Blues’ reward for handing a heavy defeat on Grimsby Town on Wednesday night is a date with Manchester United, a tie that delights Frank Lampard.

The Chelsea boss, in buoyant mood after his wards domed out a 7-1 thrashing to Grimsby, has expressed his pleasure in meeting with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in the next round of the competition.

Manchester United needed penalties to edge past Rochdale after the lower division side pulled a surprising 1-1 draw after in regulation time.

While discussing the Grimsby game, the Blues boss was informed his team had drawn Manchester United in the next round.

But having watched his side improve significantly since suffering a huge loss at Old Trafford on the opening day of the league season, Lampard could not contain his excitement at meeting the Red Devils again.

“Two big teams. I am pleased we are at home. A lot can happen in football in a short time and this next round of the draw is not coming tomorrow,” Lampard told chelseafc.com, reports Soccernet.ng.

Man United have good players and they beat us 4-0 at the start of the season, albeit it was not like a 4-0, so it is going to be a tough game.’
