Premier League Player of the Month of August, Teemu Pukki scored one and assisted another as Daniel Farke’s men carved out a shocking victory over Manchester City, a result that should send shivers down the length and breadth of the country.

Manchester City had not tasted defeat in their last 25 Premier League games against promoted sides, winning 20 and drawing 5, since losing 0-1 at Burnley in March 2015 but Norwich threw that record into the thrash can after beating the champions 3-2 at Carrow Road.

Pep Guardiola’s men traveled to the newly promoted Norwich City as the clear favourites but the champions were stunned by the Canaries who outfought and outthought the Citizens to emerge worthy 3-2 winners.

Norwich City went into the break holding a surprise 2-1 lead at the break over Manchester City at Carrow Road.

The Canaries were missing several key players and were not expected to put up much of a fight but the hosts absorbed pressure before taking the lead through Kenny McLean as he headed home from Emiliano Buendia’s corner.

Norwich then doubled their advantage when Teemu Pukki raced through and slid a pass to the back post for Todd Cantwell to convert.

Pep Guardiola was shocked but his men responded to the setback as Sergio Aguero got a goal back for the reigning champions just before the interval by guiding Bernardo Silva’s cross into the net.

Four minutes into the second 45 and Teemu Pukki missed a great chance to extend the home side’s lead.

It was a warning that the away side failed to heed as moments later it was 3-2.

A big Otamendi goof allowed Buendia to steal the ball off the feet of the Argentine. The Norwich man squared to Pukki, who controlled before stabbing an effort past Ederson to make up for his earlier miss.

Pep Guardiola’s was stunned as his men crumbled to a less fancied opponent. The Spanish manager sent in Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus to change the dynamics of the game.

With two minutes to go, the champions were back in it. Rodrigo sent in a fierce shot past Tim Krul in the Norwich goal to make it 3-2.

The Citizens pushed and pushed afterwards but there was no getting the better of Norwich on this day as City fell five point behind league leaders Liverpool.
