Alex Iwobi Reveals The Greatest Goal Of His Career, Talks Okocha’s Influence

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi sat down in a recent interview to answer a series of questions ranging from the best goal of his career so far, the influence of Jay-Jay Okocha and why he moved to Everton.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a fine start at Goodison Park after joining the Toffees from Arsenal on deadline day last summer. The Nigerian international has found the back of the net two times for the Blues and has appeared to have settled in perfectly.

In an interview with Bein Sports, the Nigerian international revealed why he decided to make the switch from the Emirates to Goodison Park.

“The ambition, the manager, gave to me when I was on the phone, and when I first came in and saw the love that not just the players showed for the team, but the fans, it makes me feel like I am an Evertonian, and hopefully there are more memories to come,” Iwobi said.

Iwobi also revealed the influence former Super Eagles midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha had on his career. The 23-year-old is the nephew of the former Bolton midfielder and has revealed he taught him a lot.

“I was lucky enough to go to the training ground and watch him play. I remember I even ate breakfast with him as if I was a player. I had eggs and toast and went to watch him play, and they had a lot of work rate, and he came over to me and showed me a flick.

Speaking on his best goal so far in his career Iwobi said it was his goal against Zambia which sent Super Eagles to the 2018 World Cup. He revealed the goal was special to him because he had his mum and dad at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium that day.
