Nigeria’s U-23 team began their 2020 Olympic qualifier on a shaky note after the team lost 1-0 to Sudan at the Al Merriekh Stadium in Omdurman on Thursday.
Despite parading stars such as Taiwo Awoniyi and Stephen Odey, the team could not break the deadlock.
However, Walaa El Din netted the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute to send the home supporters ina frenzy.
All efforts by the Nigerian team to level score proved abortive as the Sudanese side will take a one-goal advantage to the second leg slated for Stephen Keshi Stadium, Delta State next week.
