UEFA Super Cup Betting Preview: Wounded Chelsea dare fierce Liverpool

It’s the Super Cup and for the first time in a long, long while it’s between two English clubs as Chelsea attempt to upset the odds and beat Liverpool to the trophy

Last season, the Londoners outclassed all-comers and thrashed Arsenal in the final of the Europa League to earn their place in Instabul.

Chelsea has since lost the supremely gifted Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and have endured a boring summer transfer due to an imposed transfer ban.

Liverpool, on the other hand, crowned a brilliant campaign by outfoxing fellow English side Tottenham in the final of the UEFA Champions League to win the coveted title.

Jurgen Klopp have not particularly added any major signing to the European champions.

If there were any doubts and misgivings regarding that, the Reds completely erased it with their first half performance against Norwich at the weekend. Four goals within the first 45 minutes showed the An field giants have picked up exactly where they left off last term.

That should worry a Chelsea side that was trounced over the weekend by Manchester United. The Blues delivered a competitive display in the first half at Old Trafford but completely crumbled to waves of counter attacks in the second 45.

So who wins this?

Against Liverpool, Chelsea will face a beast ten times fiercer than any thing United threw at them on Sunday. When up against the likes of Mane, Firminho and Salah, your defence is bound to crack at some point.

Frank Lampard’s side has shown positive signs and will most certainly improve with time but it is way too earlier to face a team as well-oiled as Liverpool.

Verdict: Chelsea will struggle, Liverpool will win.

Further Tip? Over 2.5 goals scored.

100% of Chelsea’s last five games have seen over 2.5 goals and same as been recorded in three of Liverpool’s past four matches. There’s a fair chance of this encounter seeing three or more goals.

Master Tip: Liverpool to win and over 2.5 goals.
