The German tactician has been in charge of Nigeria’s men football national team for close to three years and has led the side to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles did not make it past the group stage of the Mundial but got to the semifinal of the continental competition, where they were stopped by eventual winners Algeria.

Nigeria 3 vs 2 Cameroon: Super Eagles knock out Cameroon in AFCON thriller

Nigeria ousted holders and bitter rivals Cameroon from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as they scored twice in three minutes to come from behind and win a thrilling last-16 match 3-2.

Shanghai Shenhua forward Odion Ighalo gave Nigeria a 19th-minute lead but the Lions hit back with two quick fire goals before halftime.

Ighalo, however, levelled the scores for Nigeria in the 63rd minute before Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi snatched the winner for the rampant Super Eagles three minutes later.

Nigeria 2 vs 0 Iceland: Ahmed Musa brace leaves Super Eagles at the brink of World Cup second round qualification

After losing their opening World Cup match against eventual finalists Croatia, Nigeria knew only victory would do against Iceland. And victory they got.

Ahmed Musa struck both goals as Nigeria boosted their hopes of qualifying from the group stage of the World Cup with a 2-0 defeat of Iceland, a result which ultimately proved to be good news as well for Argentina.

Lionel Messi’s team, after a stunning 3-0 loss to Croatia, would edge the group’s last match to dump Nigeria out of the tourney.

Nigeria 0 vs 2 South Africa: Bafana Bafana stun the Super Eagles in their own backyard

On a dramatic Saturday evening, Bafana Bafana secured their maiden victory against the Super Eagles in a competitive match.

Two second half goals from Tokelo Rantie and Percy Tau, saw the South Africans claim a famous 2-0 away victory over Nigeria in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The two nations eventually qualified for the continental showpiece, with Nigeria rallying to top the group.

The Super Eagles would later extract their pound of flesh from the South Africans after thrashing Baxter’s Bafana 2 – 1 at the quarterfinal  stage of the tournament proper in Egypt.

Argentina 2 vs 4 Nigeria: Super Eagles produce stunning comeback to shoot down a Messi-less side

Alex Iwobi scored twice as Nigeria fought back from 2-0 down against an Argentina side missing Lionel Messi to secure a stunning 4-2 friendly victory in Krasnodar.

Aguero tapped home Argentina’s second to after Ever Banega’s free-kick had given Sampaoli’s men a stunning opener.

With the Nigerians two goals down and looking flat, Kelechi Iheanacho inspired a terrific fightback with a free-kick of his own in the closing stages of the first half.

Two goals in the space of three second-half minutes from Iwobi and Bryan Idowu swung the game further away from Argentina.

With no Messi to inspire any late heroics, Iwobi wrapped up the victory for the Super Eagles, the Arsenal forward finishing with his left foot after swerving his way beyond Javier Mascherano.

Nigeria 4 vs 0 Cameroon: Attacking masterclass blows away shambolic Lions

Arriving on the back of a painful 2-0 defeat in the hands of South Africa in their prior competitive fixture, Gernot Rohr’s men put up a commanding attacking display at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium to completely crush any hope Cameroon held of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

Goals from Odion Ighalo, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho powered the Super Eagles past the Indomitable Lions who showed promises at the beginning of the game.
