Fortuna Düsseldorf’s goaltender Maduka Okoye has reacted to the surprise invitation extended to him by the Super Eagles coaching staff.
Nigeria national team manager Gernot Rohr, Wednesday, released a list of the 23-man squad to face Ukraine in an international friendly match slated for the Dnipro Arena, Ukraine on the 10th of September.

19-year-old Okoye surprisingly made the list, coming in to replace South Africa-based Daniel Akpeyi who had a far-from-excellent outing at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Germany-born Okoye has taken to Twitter to express his delight at finally being called on to represent the country of his proud parents.
“Can‘t express my feelings and how happy I am to get my first call up for the Super Eagles. All praise to the most high.
Thanks for all the messages!
#naijaboy 💚,” the goaltender wrote on the social media site.

The Ukraine friendly is the first match the Super Eagles will play since winning the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
