It’s been an amazing week for young footballers in Port Harcourt as the 1. FSV Mainz O5 Football School Camp kicked off at the Shell RA Club in Rumukurushe, Port Harcourt.
The Camp which is powered by Vandyke FC is hosted by The PENGASSAN Shell Branch and runs from August 26 to September 6, 2019, from 8.00am-12.00 daily.
Mainz 05 coaches, Robin Hassenclever and Philipp Weber have been leading the drills supported by Vandyke FC coaches Blessing Harrison and Sunny Gershon Ejekwu.
Barrister Chris Green, Rivers State Football Association Chairman, described the camp as “a great opportunity for Youth Players to develop under a very professional structure and we are very happy to work with Mainz 05 and Vandyke FC as they roll out this exciting project in the state. “This is a huge platform for player development in Nigeria.”
Speaking to reporters, Christof Babatz, Head of Football School, 1. FSV Mainz 05 said: “It is well known that Nigeria is a country of many talented players and we are proud to be here to help young players in their development of technical and tactical football skills.”
Emeka Enyadike said: “Vandyke FC is focused on talent development and with 1. FSV Mainz 05, we have created a balance between German efficiency and Nigerian flair. The training methods are dynamic and entertaining.'”
“Our goal is to provide a platform that combines education, discipline and passion in an environment that is driven by professional management.”
Rowland Fredericks, the PENGASSAN Shell Branch Chairman couldn’t hide his excitement “We are happy with what is developing in our country on football.”
“The combination of Vandyke Sports and 1.FSV Mainz 05 driven by the duo of Robin and Philipp is a huge blessing for Nigeria Football and we remain ever grateful.”
This weekend, the players, coaches, officials, family and guests will be hosted to a viewing party on Saturday, August 31 as Bayen Munich host Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga.
