16-year-old Ansu Fati became Barcelona’s youngest ever La Liga goal-scorer after opening his account in the team’s 2-2 draw against Osasuna on Saturday.
The teenage sensation became the second-youngest player to debut for the club after making a substitution appearance in last weekend’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis.
He’s now scored his first goal for Barcelona. He headed home in the 51st minute to create a historic moment for the Catalan outfit.
He becomes the third youngest player in the 90-year history of La Liga to score in the competition – Fabrice Olinga scored for Malaga when he was 16 years and 98 days and is the youngest followed by Iker Muniain who was 16 years and 289 days when he first appeared for Athletic Bilbao.
Carles Perez crossed from the right and Fati out-jumped Nacho Vidal to steer a powerful header past Osasuna keeper Ruben Martinez.
The impressive Perez set up another sub, Arthur to put Barcelona in front after Fati’s goal. Barcelona were much better in the second half with Fati on the pitch.
They had started poorly. Brandon Thomas was starting his first game of the season and tormenting Barcelona’s defence.
When Jordi Alba gave the ball away Brandon was left one-on-one with Clement Lenglet. He bent a left-footed cross around the defender and in to the lap of the unmarked Torres who volleyed it past Marc Andre ter Stegen.
