Arsenal announce departure of club captain

France international Laurent Kolscielny is on his way to Bordeaux, ending his long spell with the Gunners.

Arsenal have announced on their official twitter account that the French defender has quit the north Londoners and is to make the switch to the Ligue 1 side.

After a long, drawn out saga in which the Arsenal captain refused to join the team for training and preseason friendlies, Koscielny has finally been granted his wish to quit the gunners.

Unai Emery attempted to pacify the defender to stay for another year as he is still an important part of his plans, but the 32-year-old insisted on leaving and has now been allowed to leave.
