Ex-international, Henry Nwosu has admonished the Super Eagles to be clinical in front of goal if the team must brush aside the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations today.
Both teams qualified to this stage of the competition after Nigeria defeated defending champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 3-2 while South Africa shocked host, the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in the round of 16.
Nwosu, who was part of the victorious Green Eagles that won the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations in Lagos, told Soccernet.ng that Nigeria has the players and experience to defeat South Africa.
“There is no doubt that today’s encounter will be tough but then, I believe Nigeria will win.
“I quite agree that South Africa defeated the Super Eagles 2-0 in Uyo during the qualifying series, a situation which shows the team could pick up the result when you don’t expect it. Another good example was their 1-0 win over host, Egypt in the round of 16.
“However, our players must be clinical in front of goals in order to avoid the mistakes the Egyptians made against the Bafana Bafana. I personally don’t see anything special about them regardless of their victory against Egypt.
