Nigeria vs Algeria: Rohr Reveals Favourite Ahead Of Huge Semifinal Clash

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has tried to take away pressure from his team after he claimed Algeria are the favourites ahead of the AFCON semifinal clash between the two sides.

Nigeria and Algeria go head to head on Sunday in the second semifinal of the Total Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt.

Both teams have been super impressive so far in the tournament, seeing off the likes of Senegal, Ivory Coast and Cameroon.  However, Algeria have been arguably the best team in the competition so far with their sweet attacking play.

They are currently the leading scorers in the competition with ten goals compared to Super Eagles who have managed just seven goals so far.

Although the two sides are evenly matched on paper, Super Eagles manager believes Le Fennecs will go into the game as favourites because of the way they have played throughout the tournament.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the match, Rohr revealed the Desert Foxes are the favourites but they are not scared of going up against them because they have beaten a team (South Africa) that defeated the favourites (Egypt).  “We’ve beaten a team that beat the favourites”. “Now we’re facing the team regarded as the favourite from the group stage”. “But we are only second favourite after Algeria”.

The two sides have a lot of history between them with Nigeria having the edge in the last few years. The Super Eagles will be hoping to reach their first Nations Cup final since 2013 while Algeria will be hoping to end their 29-years wait for an appearance in the final.
