Manchester United Star agree new contract to become World’s Highest-paid

David De Gea has agreed to a new six-year contract with the Red Devils that will make him the world’s highest-paid goalkeeper.

The new contract, has revealed by The Telegraph, is worth around £117 million.

The Spain international will sign the new deal, which will see him earn £375,000 a week, when he returns to England as he is presently with the team on a preseason tour.

La Liga giants, Real Madrid are known to be a long time admirer of the goalkeeper and, despite signing Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea last season on a long term contract, are believed to still be casting side glances at the Manchester United custodian.

The Old Trafford giants have however moved swiftly to quash every interest in the 28-year-old by making De Gea commit to a contract that would keep him in the club until he turns 34.

De Gea did not have the best of times last season as United finished 6th in the Premier League with a healthy 32 points gap between the Red Devils and champions Manchester City.

Manchester United however showed their belief in their abilities of the former Atletico Madrid goalie by offering him the deal that will now see De Gea become the club’s highest paid player after Alexis Sanchez.
