The Red Devils have won the race to sign the Leicester City defender for a world-record £80 million deal, according to The Sun.
Harry Maguire is reportedly on his way to Old Trafford to have his medical after which he would put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
Manchester City were also in the race to sign the England ace but bulked at Leicester City’s asking price for the burly defender.
The city rivals had bids of £70 million rejected earlier in the week.
Leicester have however sanctioned the deal after Old Trafford chiefs returned with an improved bid.
It appears that United are not fazed by the steep fee and have agreed to make Harry Maguire the world’s most expensive defender.
The Foxes’ centre-back takes that crown from Virgil van Dijk, whose transfer from Southampton cost Liverpool £75 million in 2018.
It is understood that the Red Devils will pay Leicester £60 million for the 26-year-old, with an extra £20 million available in add ons.
It certainly is a great piece of business for Leicester City who acquired the services of the former Sheffield man for £17 million in 2017. That translates to a profit of £43m straight away.
The Foxes have already moved to replace the England international with 27-year-old Lewis Dunk set to join from Brighton in a £45 million swoop.
