Spanish side Villarreal FC have announced the capture of former Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno. The club revealed the signing of the Spaniard on their official twitter account on Tuesday.
Alberto Moreno was a free agent, having been released by the European champions.
An academy graduate of Sevilla, he made his senior debut for the club’s reserve side in 2011 before going on to feature in 62 official games for the first team.
Moreno was also part of the Spain youth side that won the 2013 European Championship.
The Spain international joined Liverpool in 2015, a year after winning the Europa League with Sevilla. He endured an inconsistent time at Anfield.
Despite not playing a single minute in the final, Moreno won his first Champions League winner’s medal in May as Liverpool won 2–0 against Tottenham.
The 27-year-old was released by Liverpool three days after that final, having lost his place to Andrew Robertson.
