Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted wantaway midfielder Paul Pogba will be at the club next season after he revealed he’s considering naming the World Cup winner as the team’s permanent captain.
Pogba is linked with a move away from Old Trafford with Real Madrid and former club Juventus among those interested in his signature.
The 25-year-old has also done little to dampen the speculations, telling reporters on his trip to China that he is looking for a new challenge.
His agent, Mino Raiola also came out a few weeks to say Manchester United have been informed about his client’s decision to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The Dutch-born Italian agent cited Manchester United’s slump and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s lack of experience as the reasons why Pogba is interested in a move away from the club.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted Manchester United are not willing to let go of their most prized asset. Speaking to SkySports after the Red Devils pre-season friendly against Perth Glory, the former Cardiff manager said Pogba could be made the team’s permanent captain ahead of next season which could signal the end of a possible exit this summer.
Asked about the captaincy, Solskjaer said: “We have got a few possibilities there. When the season starts we will announce [someone].
“Ashley [Young] will wear it when he is playing until we decide on someone.” Asked if Pogba is a consideration, Solskjaer said: “Yeah.”
Manchester United return to action on Wednesday when they take on Leeds in another pre-season friendly.
