Long-serving defender, captain and former England international Gary Cahill and four others have left Chelsea FC. The London club announced the departure on their official twitter handle.
The former England international has been club captain for two years and at his peak, formed a solid partnership with John Terry as the club won several trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, in a very productive period for the club.
Cahill (33) played 291 times and scored 25 goals for the Blues. He has been linked with potential moves to Aston Villa and Arsenal in recent days.
The club also confirmed the exit of forward, Gonzalo Higuain, goalkeepers Rob Green (39) and Eduardo (36), as well as US-prospect Kyle Scott (21). They all left the Blues after the expiration of their contracts.
Higuain returns to Juventus, his parent club amidst rumours that the Argentine has joined AS Roma. Eduardo, however, heads to Braga in Portugal while Rob Green has confirmed his retirement from football.
