Mikel: It’ll be amazing to get Boro to the EPL

Nigerian Midfielder Mikel Obi has said it’ll be a great achievement for him if he can help English Championship side Middlesbrough gain promotion to the English Premier League.

Speaking with gazettelive.co.uk, the two time EPL winner said he’s still hungry for more trophies and will be happy to win the with his team.

“If we manage to pull it off, it would be amazing. It would be up there as one of my greatest achievements,” Mikel said.

“I’m still hungry and want to win trophies, I’m never satisfied with what I have achieved. If I was, I would just sit at home.

“I want to achieve something with this club and that is to get this club promoted. I love challenges and I knew to come in here would be a challenge for me, and being in the second division would be a challenge for me.

“I knew this club would be pushing for promotion and managing to do that wouldn’t be easy,” he concluded.

Mikel joined the English side from China in a short term deal that will see him play for the club till the end of the current season.
