Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr says winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will be the best moment of his coaching career.
The German tactician, who qualified Nigeria for the bi-annual tournament after beating Seychelles 3-1 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium last week Friday, stated that he has a team capable of achieving the feat.
Rohr said that Nigeria still remains one of the giants of African football and believes that the players are motivated, determined and hungry to make Nigeria proud.
“I am very optimistic that Nigeria will make an appreciable impact at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. I quite agree that we have other strong teams such as the host (Egypt), Ivory Coast, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco with a few to mention, however, I am more focus on parading a squad that will conquer the rest of Africa,” Rohr told soccernet.ng.
“As you can see, we have an array of talents that are ready to make the nation proud and that can first be justified with the qualification of the team with a game to spare.
“Besides, the last time we won the AFCON title was in 2013 under late Stephen Keshi and I believe this is the right time for us to win it again considering the fact that we have been absent from the competition twice (2015 and 2017).
“My desire is to win the trophy no matter the challenges and I know it will be possible at the end of July.”
