Nigeria’s Flying Eagles target victory against South Africa

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be hoping to book a place in this year’s U-20 FIFA World Cup as the team face a tough test against the Amajita of South Africa on Tuesday.

Having won their opening game on Sunday with a 2-0 over Burudi thanks to goals from Yahaya Nazifi and Effiom Maxwell in the second half, the seven-time Africa champions knows that a victory against a South Africa side that drew 1-1 against hosts, Niger will automatically qualify the team for Poland.

Currently topping Group A on three points, the Paul Aigbogun’s wards will be aiming for the maximum in order to book a semi final spot with a game to spare.

However, South Africa national U-20 head coach Thabo Senong has stated that they are currently analyzing Nigeria’s Flying Eagles to know their weaknesses ahead of their crucial U-20 Africa Cup of Nations fixture on Tuesday February 5 at the Seyni Kouche stadium in Niger Republic.

“We will look at Nigeria and analyze how they play. We still have good players in our squad who are yet to feature in upcoming matches and I believe the team will be ready when we face Nigeria,” he said.

Nigeria has won the Competition seven times since its inception in 1971 and last won the trophy in 2015 beating host Senegal by a lone goal.
