Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have qualified for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup slated for Poland after overcoming host, Niger 1-0 in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday.
The only goal of the encounter came in the 73rd minutes as Nigeria’s Ibrahim Alhassan scored from a free-kick to silenced the vociferous home supporters.
The victory means the Flying Eagles top Group A on seven points while South Africa are second on five points after defeating Burundi 1-0 to qualify for the semi final stages of the tournament.
Nigeria will await the winner of Ghana vs Mali to know the team they will face in the semi final on Wednesday 13 February, 2019.
